Dates: June 14 - 27, 2008
Join Lew Hunter
and Pamela Hunter in the Victorian Capital of the Midwest. This Colony
celebrates the roots of writers like Willa Cather and Mari Sandoz as we
meet for two weeks in Superior,
Nebraska, a postcard town of traditional Americana we like to refer to as "the middle of everywhere."
The schedule will immediately immerse
you in the writing process where you will be encouraged to progress from story
idea, to
treatment, to step-outline and finally to complete the First Act of the Screenplay
(30 pages).
At the conference site, your accomodations
are truly "Victorian." You will be staying in one
of two 19th Century Victorian homes, lovingly furnished and tastefully decorated
by Pamela Hunter. Each room has individual desks, reading
lamps, and grounded (3-prong) outlets for your laptop computer. Remember, these
are 19th Century Victorian houses. If you have mobility problems, please discuss
it with us. Sorry, we cannot guarantee privacy. Please remember to pack a robe
or other cover-up. Let's keep our minds on our writing!
Every day will be filled with lecture, workshop and/or
writing time. There are plenty of cozy and isolated places to concentrate on your writing
assignments. As you will soon discover, writing is the priority, but taking
the time to socialize and discuss writing issues with your fellow participants
is also a vital part of the Colony experience.
Lew Hunter will lead the workshop
and the lecture, and will facilitate the best writing by creating an atmosphere
of constructive feedback for all participants.
This Superior Summer Screenwriting Colony fills rapidly
and it is strongly suggested that you submit an application at your earliest
opportunity to ensure acceptance and availability.
All skill-levels of writing experience
are encouraged to apply and to participate. We can easily accommodate the most
basic beginner to the most experienced professional. All writers will be respected, honored
and supported through the writing process.
Cost:an $800 deposit can hold your spot, or send the full amount of the tuition with the application. If just the deposit is sent with the application, the balance of the tuition is due 30 days before the Colony start date.
